What does this test tell me?

Airborne allergies are a common ailment among millions of people every year. Airborne allergies, which can often worsen during the spring and fall seasons, are particularly aggravating to the body and can include symptoms such as sneezing, itchy watery eyes, rhinitis, headaches, congestion, and in more extreme cases, asthma. Dunwoody Labs Airborne Allergy test looks at your body’s IgE response to many common airborne allergens, including animal dander, trees, weeds, crops and mold.

How is our test different?

In the past, the common and unpleasant method to test for these types of allergies was the skin prick test. This required many small needles to shallowly penetrate the skin using known and common allergic antigens, thereby exposing the patient directly to a potential allergen. The skin prick test is then measured by healthcare professional using a measuring tool that gauges your skin’s level of response. The Dunwoody Labs Airborne Allergy test uses serum. After one quick blood draw, the serum is then plated with the antigens and the reaction to each antigen is then measured using laboratory equipment, providing a more specific, complete and accurate result.

Why do I need this test?

Do you have asthma? Do you suspect something in your home, such as your pet, potential pests or mold are causing you discomfort? Do you have seasonal symptoms but are not sure what to avoid?
